*Thursday 2/20/14:* “Chalk Talk” – 4:30pm – SLC (will send out room number around 4pm)
We will be going over fundamentals of tacking and gybing as well as the more advanced responsibilities of the crew: Reading telltales, back filling the jib, watching for puffs, and helping the skipper with tactics.
*Friday 2/21/14:* Practice at Lake Chapman – 3:30pm – Boat Ramp
We will be putting the skills learned on Thursday to use. During practice we will focus on making clean tacks, smooth gybes, and for those ready, driving the boat.
Please wear quick drying clothing in case you get wet, towel, rain jacket, and boat shoes/closed toe water shoes. Sandals are ok, but not ideal!
First practice of the spring semester this Thursday, 3:30 at Sandy Creek Park! Come on out and get on the water, bring your dues if you’re ready to join the club! If you’re still not sure, come on out, just sign a waiver and see what the sailing club is all about. (Follow the signs to the “boat ramp” once you get inside the gate, or ask the folks at the gate for directions to the “boat ramp”). Remember to bring $2 to get into the park, an extra change of clothes, and don’t forget to bring a towel!
